Best Family Attractions in VegasJuly 8, 2015 9:00 am
“Visit Vegas with the kids, are you crazy?” I hear you shout… No! Contrary to popular belief (and stigma!) there’s actually a lot of fun, family-friendly activities and experiences you can enjoy with your kids. It’s not all about casinos and hotels, gambling and late nights, a visit to Vegas with the family can be just as entertaining!
The below is a list of some of the best family attractions you can visit in Las Vegas – meaning you can spend quality time with the kids whilst making the most of this amazing city!
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas is one of the most popular family attractions – for both old and young. This new attraction is right on the iconic Las Vegas strip, in front of the Venetian Hotel, so you couldn’t get a more picture-perfect location. Inside, this Madame Tussauds will have you double-taking as you pass the life-like waxwork statues of famous faces, from sporting icons, to Hollywood actors and singing sensations. From Will Smith, to Lady Gaga, even Bradley Cooper – see them all at this fascinating Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.
If you’re an adrenaline junkie (and you and your kids are over 1.37m) then make sure you take a ride on the nail-biting NY NY Roller Coaster. Sending you up, down, under and over this twisty-turny course at the New York New York Hotel it’s something you should add to your bucket list while visiting Vegas. Set your heart racing as you speed along the tracks, countering the G-Forces and travelling at dizzying speeds. Not one if you suffer vertigo!
If you’re visiting Vegas in the summer you’ll notice the (hotter than average!) temperatures. To cool off and keep everyone happy, make a bee-line for Cowabunga Water Park, one of the best attractions for all the family to enjoy. The kids can go off on the water slides and rides and get a thrill, while the adults can relax by the pool, rent out a cabana for the evening and relax on a sun lounger as the sun goes down. Head down to the Summer Nights when it’ll be slightly cooler, and less busy, too.
One of the most hair-raising experiences on offer in Las Vegas is the VooDoo Zip Line experience. You’ll be strapped in and zipped across a line strung between the two Rio Towers so you’re promised amazing views over central Vegas – just at breakneck speed! Spot the strip and the Nevada Mountains in the background as you fly across the line reaching over 33 miles per hour. If you’re brave enough and have someone with you to hold their hand – it’s worth it. And you never know, it’s over so fast, you’ll probably wish you could do it all over again!
For something a bit more low key Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat is just the key if you’re visiting with really young animal-loving kids. This is a fantastic attraction full of fascinating furry friends that you can meet and greet. Set in the iconic Mirage Hotel, this wonderful animal habitat is home to a 2.5 million gallon dolphin enclosure as well as a Big Cat habitat with panthers, leopards, tigers and lions to admire. Anyone who love their felines, this is a great attraction to see them up close and personal. You can also time it right to see a dolphin show and feeding, open to the public.
Get active at SkyZone Trampoline Park and bounce around at this custom built trampoline centre. It’s a great way to have some fun, get those endorphins going and add a bit of competitiveness into the mix. Split your family up into two teams and you can play against each other, with the aim of scoring more goals than the opponents. It’s fun (and safe!) and something for the whole family. Make sure under 18s are accompanied by an adult though, you wouldn’t want to be outnumbered if someone had to miss out!
Who doesn’t love mini golf? We’re looking for any excuse to pitch and put while we’re on holiday, but take it up a notch with KISS by Monster Mini Golf in (you’ve guessed it) full KISS theme décor. Play the 18 hole mini golf course in this crazy low-lit neon attraction, passing giant Gene Simmonds tongues, electric guitars and platform shoes along the way. It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind experience and one to get you going and sing along to if you’re a classic rock fan.
Strap on your helmets and get those gear boxes going at the Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix. You’ll be counting down “Get ready, set, go” in your heads in anticipation! This is a great attraction to take your family to – especially Dads and their sons with a real competitive streak. Take to the course like a pro Formula 1 Driver, steer round those corners, race to the end and whoever loses has to forfeit. Sound fun? There’s also Gene Wood’s Go Kart Racing if you fancy more adrenaline when you’re done!
