The Geek Guide to Las Vegas

Las Vegas is known as the capital of entertainment; an adult’s playground; the city of sin. However, to others it’s also know as a huge geek-centre where those interested in non-conventional Vegas related fun also gather to indulge in their own interests. From UFO sightings, to simulating a mock Crime Scene Investigation, each and every hobby is welcomed. If you’d rather your pinballs to your slot machines, then read on for the geek’s guide to Las Vegas.

Atomic Testing Museum

Nevada’s National Atomic Testing Museum is a great museum that attractions thousands of visitors each year to learn about the history of global nuclear programs and Las Vegas’ involvement in nuclear testing and its history as the ‘Atomic City’. Vegas’ tourism thrived on the atomic testing and here you can learn about everything related to the atomic age with over 10,000 artefacts and exhibits.

Extraterrestrial Highway

State Route 375 is a high-way in central Nevada which runs from Crystal Springs to Warm Springs and has been a source of multiple UFO sightings and alien activity for years. So much so that the route has been nicknamed Extraterrestrial Highway since 1966.  Rachel, a small town nearby, caters to these sightings and visitors to the town can enjoy alien-related memorabilia and souvenirs to take away.

If you love crime-scene dramas and investigation documentaries then get involved with CSI: The Experience to solve your own crime. This great interactive experience will guide you through the evidence with video media, including the examining evidence, from hair to bullet casings. Be the real crime scene investigator and try and solve the case.

Pinball Hall of Fame
The Pinball Hall of Fame is dedicated to the pinball machine. It’s the world’s largest collection of the games and you can find old retro models from the 1950s all the way up to the 90s. Make sure you bring lots of coins as each game costs a quarter – and the even better news is that all the money goes to charity. It’s a fun way to spend an afternoon and more generous than gambling!

Madame Tussaud’s Marvel Exhibit at the Venetian

The iconic Madame Tussaud’s Las Vegas is currently running a Marvel Exhibit which features some of the greatest superheroes of all time. You’ll recognise the much loved characters such as Spiderman, Iron Man and the giant Hulk – to name a few. So if you’ve got kids, or are just a big kid yourself, and love the comic book characters then this is a great attraction for you!

Celestial Comics and Toy Shack at Neonopolis

There’s plenty in Las Vegas for comic book lovers, such as the Celestial Comics with its sci-fi fantasy starscape-themed décor. You’ll be able to find a huge array of comic books and everything related to comic books to bring back as a souvenir in their huge merchandise section and you can even sit back and relax on one of the sofas and indulge in your favourite story!

Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam is one of the country’s most impressive feats of engineering so if you like your big buildings and structures then this one is for you. The Hoover Dam is the largest reservoir of water in the US in terms of volume so you’ll be stunned at just how big it is. Its hydroelectric power station pumps 100,000 gallons of water through it per second – so even the stats are impressive!

Countdown Live Escape Games

This is a great experience for any lover of logic or thrill-seeker as you’ll be stuck in a room for 60 minutes and will have to solve problems and complete challenges in order to escape.
